Every Data Set Tells A Story

NP: Pandora (Secret Machines Radio)

This map has been showing up in a bunch of my blog reading, and I'm fascinated with it not so much from a political perspective -- although that's interesting, too -- but from a pure data analysis standpoint. I'm a firm believer that there are patterns pretty much everywhere, you just have to figure out how to uncover them. Looking at county-level data and picking a threshold of 65% did the trick here, and I love that moment when you tweak those sorts of parameters and a clear picture presents itself.

For the political side, Josh Marshall seems to have done the heavy lifting at the link provided above that everyone else is citing.
