Tenth Avenue Freezeout

NP: some radio station

If you're wondering about the paucity of posts, I'm out of town again, and 1,000 page views a month doesn't seem to warrant a guest blogger. At the moment, I'm in New York City. Yesterday was my first full day, and the overarching theme seemed to be "stuff I had to buy for the day of walking through Manhattan," which included:

  • Sunscreen
  • A white tanktop -- I started the day with a black knit shirt, and was dying about halfway across the Brooklyn Bridge. Plus, I totally blended in some neighborhoods.
  • An umbrella. Rain seems to follow me on vacation, because it poured in Virginia over the weekend as well.

The culmination of yesterday's plan was to try getting into the Colbert Report on standby. Didn't happen, as I was six or seven people down the list when they cut it off. I was sure I had remembered seeing the studio before when I made the trip to Sony Studios back in the fall of 2003, but I couldn't find the recording/rehearsal building this time around for a point of reference.

I thought Sony was on 54th Street just across 10th Avenue from where Colbert tapes, but maybe it was a block or two north of 54th Street, since that's the direction I didn't check.
