Media Filters and How To Beat Them

NP: Secret Machines, Now Here Is Nowhere

Tina Fey probably did a better impression of Sarah Palin last night than anyone could have expected, and that was with expectations really, really high. She just totally nailed it.

And a lot of people were watching, which makes me wonder. Will The View and Saturday Night Live succeed in cutting through the crap being peddled by the McCain/Palin campaign where the mainstream media have failed?

A McCain spokesman said outright that they don't care what the "media filter" says about what the campaign has been doing, which is tantamount to saying they're going to continue to lie and try to convince voters to believe them and not what the media are saying about them. But it's one thing to demonize the press. My guess is that they can't move the cultural zeitgeist and conventional wisdom the way popular talk show hosts and sketch-comedy shows can.
