Welcome To The Machine

So now McCain is going after where I live. Daley's pissed, and rightly so. The point that I think needs to be made here is that, when he was running for the Democratic nomination for the Senate, Barack Obama was not the "machine" candidate. That was Illinois State Comptroller Dan Hynes. Believe it or not, I voted for Hynes in that primary, out of some vague notion that I didn't want Obama to completely crush the competition and let it go to his head.

Come on Chris -- get real. Obama was the machine candidate and has been since he first ran for IL senate. He's had help not only from the Daleys but from the good ole coalition of friendly Repubs in the state as well.
Check out how he won his first race for IL Senate. Then check out how Fitzgerald was thrown out because he wanted to have sex with his wife in the US Senate race. And if you don't think our fine Repubs and Daley cohorts had something to do with that, I have a fine bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
