One of several reasons I gush so much about FiveThirtyEight.com is that it allows me to obsess (too much, as per that last post) about politics in the context of what I actually do for a living, which is data analysis. So I absolutely love the clever hack of using the number of Southern Baptists in a state as a variable that defines that state's "Southernness." Fucking brilliant.
