The End of the Two-Party System?

I had seen this coming a long, long time ago (here, here and here, if you ignore the part about Giuliani getting nominated), but thought there was a chance that the big GOP schism might happen before the election. The big question is whether one faction simply takes over the party and the other simply sits and complains about it, or if this libertarian exodus is real to the point where they decide they're better off taking their toys and going elsewhere.
