I just got an e-mail from Buy.com touting "Black Friday II." This is getting ridiculous. Now, I know what you're thinking -- or, rather, I know what you would be thinking if you knew more about me and what I do for a living than I let on here -- and that's "didn't you champion the notions of Cyber Mondays I through IV?"

Well, yes, but that's because the original formulation of Cyber Monday was a little bit misinformed -- it was never the "biggest online shopping day of the season." So, I was trying to work within the confines of what Shop.org had put forth, and simply numbering the four Mondays from Thanksgiving to Christmas seemed the best way.

Black Friday, on the other hand, exists for a unique reason, and that's because most people don't have to work the day after Thanksgiving. Unless Buy.com gave us the day off yesterday and nobody communicated it, I'm not buying it. So to speak.
