NP: Sufjan Stevens, Illinoise
I could have read Friedman, Rich, Dowd or Kristof today, but I've gotten somewhat burned out on all of them over the years. Friedman's a wuss of the highest order. Rich has gotten annoyingly belligerent the same way Olbermann has, Dowd is just annoying, and Kristof can be inscrutable. But I did read Bono's first column for the Old Gray Lady.
Good debut. A nice beat and you could dance to it. He had to come out of the gate recognizing that, above all else, he's a rock singer, and I think he did it in a way that showed he can provide an engaging view of the world as well.
Tangentially, on a topic I'm not touching with a ten-foot pole (but our President-elect now has, at least a bit), said Old Gray Lady misspelled Dahlia Lithwick's name in the aggregate byline for this collection of opinions.
