NP: Genius playlist from "Grounds for Divorce" from Elbow
I'm not going to feel like I'm settled into the new apartment until Monday, when I (presumably) will have my own Internet access, instead of borrowing WiFi from my landlord upstairs. But the place is starting to come together, and surprising me a little bit in the process.
In my old apartment, I didn't have an eat-in kitchen, so my routine was to eat breakfast in the living room in front of the television, with the laptop on a stand nearby to catch up on e-mail. Here, that doesn't seem comfortable for some reason, so the routine will change, at least as long as I don't have full-time employment and can take my time in the mornings. It helps that the kitchen table won't become the dumping ground for all manner of stuff that it was when it was in the living room of the old place.
This is why I like that I've been able to stretch out the task of unpacking, although sheer exhaustion played a part in that, too. I'm trying to give this place the opportunity to tell me where things should go, and some of that seems to be working out. I'm probably one or two days of solid work away from being really, truly settled -- with the possible exception of stocking the bookshelves. Not having anywhere to be most days certainly helps, although efforts to change that are humming along, almost without much nudging from me.
