NP: John McLaughlin, The Promise
So far I've read two articles on Publicis buying Razorfish from Microsoft, and neither of them make any mention of the last SEM company that the French advertising conglomerate picked up.
A quick look at some of the more search-specific news sites shows that some are making the connection, but the lack of anything in the mainstream is likely due to the lack of anything about Performics in the press release. This strikes me as odd, because it would seem like Publicis might want to point to all the moves they're making in the digital space as part of a single, unified strategy.
Razorfish also looks to be headed for VivaKi, and not the VivaKi Nerve Center, which, if I understand the distinction correctly, means it's more agency than technology company. This, for better or worse, is the opposite of how Performics was considered when that deal went through, which the cynic in me might interpret as the reason they're not calling attention to that acquisition now. I don't think the stated objective there necessarily worked out the way they planned it.
