A Good Example

NP: Chelsea vs. Hull City on ESPN2 in high definition!

Rather than attack the latest right-wing poster child that has emerged from the town hall fracas, Steve Benen expounds on what I was saying earlier, illustrating how it's exactly this sort of person who gets manipulated into buzzword-spouting automatons by those partisan organizations who view policy debate as blood sport. I don't know how you combat this phenomenon, either, although I'd like to see someone try to break down the origins of people's misinformed opinions in real-time. The thing I've been shouting at the TV whenever someone says something unhinged or unfounded is "show your work." Why do these people accuse their representatives of lying to them, but won't consider that maybe Glenn Beck is lying to them? I want someone to figure out how to dig into this in a meaningful way, fully realizing that the closest we might get is Chris Matthews asking ineffectively blunt questions of the guy who brought a gun to the Obama town hall in New Hampshire.
