Irony Doesn't Stand A Chance

Continuing today's theme of phrases or concepts that people don't understand, here's a report on a study from back in 2006 that found 55 percent of respondents who gave an example of what they thought was a sarcastic remark were not actually being sarcastic.

Tip of the hat to Patrick Appel of the Daily Dish for finding this one. I suspect the percentage would be higher for members of Congress on this one as well.
