I get that search and mobile advertising are growing faster than display, but calling 5% growth "tanking" seems excessive to me. I know some people who still focus on display advertising, and this sort of thing makes them crazy. The rap is that display advertising isn't as accountable as search, so dollars are shifting away from that channel. In reality, I continue to think that search is the accountability of display advertising, to the point where I'd love to look at display impressions versus natural search clicks for some subgroup of major advertisers to see how closely correlated they are.
