I've been saying for years that I think the GOP is going to split into two discrete parties at some point, and now it looks like the battle lines are being drawn in New York's 23rd congressional district.
I had originally thought it would end up with something like Powell vs. Palin, but Gingrich vs. Palin might be the title fight going into the 2012 election. Or even the midterms, if this is the sort of proxy fight we can expect right now. Lawrence O'Donnell covered the story in more detail filling in for Olbermann last night.
