Very Well Said

NP: David Sylvian & Robert Fripp, The First Day

One of Andrew Sullivan's readers tries to talk him off the ledge regarding the apparent triumph of nihilism on the part of the GOP as manifested in the Massachusetts special election and the behavior of the Democrats that enabled it. This part stood out:

But the message of the past year is to be informed, to carry on, and to offer something constructive, however incremental. It's also to speak truth or at least good sense to the the crazies and the madness...at every level of life.

This is a remarkably thoughtful articulation of, well, how I try to live my life through whatever (ultimately inconsequential?) adversity the world tries to throw at me. Thus explaining a lot of the resonance I feel with our current President.
