2004 In Reverse

NP: Silversun Pickups, Neck of the Woods

A party that believes the incumbent to be so vulnerable--largely based on a single poor policy decision-- that they think winning will be a slam dunk.

A challenger from Massachusetts with a history of flip-flopping.

A challenger picked specifically for a line of reasoning that turned out to be surprisingly ineffective.

The presidency and the close races in the Senate both ending up swinging towards the party of the incumbent president.

Incredulous wringing of hands from the losing party at both their inability to win what seemed like an easy race and at the supporters of the winning side for not seeing the world the same way they do.

Serious, serious deja vu on Tuesday. At the end of the day, incumbent presidents still win in improving economies.
