So, apparently Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit were booed off the stage in the Chicago suburbs over the weekend as part of Metallica's "Summer Sanitarium" tour. On the one hand, that's the best music news I've heard since Cher announced her last tour would be her last tour, but on the other, it concerns me that some of the anti-Bizkit sentiment came from Fred's oh-so-eloquent anti-war stance. Hard to tell, since the band could easily be shouted down on their own merits.
Meanwhile, Shania Twain got some boobirds at her free concert taping the same weekend, when she expressed joy at being in Sammy Sosa's hometown. I guess electronically enhancing your voice and corking your bat gives you some sense of solidarity, and pop-country fans in Chicago apparently prefer the White Sox.
Then there's the current spate of RIAA subpoenas, but that is probably going to demand a dedicated entry at some point. The whole online music situation is so sprawling that I have problems addressing just small chunks of it. I should write a book.
