The Nick of Time

Read this. It's a NYT op-ed column from Hi Fidelity author Nick Hornby, and among other things, addresses why "Hey Ya!" was so utterly pervasive and persuasive. And why current music is problematic. I need to read it a couple more times before forming an opinion, but on the surface, he makes good points.

I haven't heard of this Big Black/Throbbing Gristle-sounding band, but here's the link. If you're particularly sensitive to particular words, you might not want to click on it, and it might not be safe for work.
