Jim DeRogatis has been writing a lot about how Lollapalooza's "reinvention" as a destination festival like Coachella right here in Chicago's Grant Park may not fly.
On the one hand, pitching the festival as a "fundraiser" might be the key difference to make this fly where the Pumpkins and other have failed. On the other, I'm with Jim. This looks awfully suspicious, especially when you consider that they're planning to put tickets on sale before announcing a lineup. Way too much can go wrong here.
Having watched the Fire deal with the city on stadium issues, I know what happens when you don't even have the ugliest duckling in a row. You make assumptions at your own peril.
