I've only given it a cursory read, but via Coolfer comes a thirtysomething epiphany from a former New Music Express writer on how she realized progressive rock from the seventies is still better than a lot of current music. Obviously, this argument appeals to me greatly.
This premise, of course, has it's limits. It's not carte blanche for liking shitty music, and Sarah Dempster makes this point with considerably aplomb that additionally makes the case for Christie Brinkley being both deaf and blind. At least up until the divorce.
I don't like Billy Joel. He looks as if he's been punched by a piano and sings as if he has a tiny cauliflower wedged up each nostril.
Good stuff. I do still try to keep up with the newer bands when I can, but with a few exceptions (mostly Rush), I'm pretty unapologetic about my proggy past.
