Dammit Jim I'm A Doctor Not A Drummer

Skimming through Jim DeRogatis' review of Monday night's Mars Volta show, I came across this:

Progressive rock wasn't built for slamdancing. It's dangerous enough to hurl your body into someone else's without the added worry of spraining an ankle while trying to follow the beat as it shifts from five-six to seventeen-eight time.

Now, DeRogatis is a drummer. He's even not a bad drummer. Plus, he's an avowed prog rock fan. So he should know, as the protector of these sorts of things, that there's no such thing as 5/6 time.

Sorry, pet peeve.
