Pain, Parales-sis and Suffering

I'm always amused watching the particular tics of rock critics. There's a tendency to pile on ultra-popular acts in order to maintain some sort of perceived objectivity, a resistance to massive media acceptance and mass-market appeal.

On that note, Jon Pareles of the New York Times seems to have outdone anything Kot and DeRogatis could ever muster when he says that Coldplay is "the most insufferable band of the decade."

Read the whole review of X&Y (registration or bugmenot.com required) for more fun, more pejorative hyperbole and surprisingly, zero mentions of Gwyneth Paltrow. He does make his case pretty articulately, even if it still boils down to taking issue with Chris Martin's vocal stylings and springboarding from there.
