She Blinded Me With Scientists

I've seen three references seen in the course of about 24 hours to a band I had never heard of prior to those same 24 hours called We Are Scientists, but they're not on Rhapsody proper, so the best I can do is fire up the radio station and listen to one song. Not bad. Guitars are reminiscent of early Radiohead, particularly that part in "Creep" where Johnny Greenwood is picking the hell out of those long notes. Drums are inventive, particularly the main syncopated groove, that has a weird, loping feel without being awkward, and shifts nicely into a double time feel. Vocals remind me of somebody, but I cannot put my finger on it right now.

The tale of the tape on allmusic.com is they're similar to The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party and a couple others I've never heard of. Influences listed are Gene (there's one you don't see every day) and The Smiths. The next songs on the Rhapsody station are "Mr. Brightside," "Look Around" from a band called Beat Happening, and "Baby Vampire Made Me" from Helium. The also have a band picture where they're all holding cats up in front of their faces. Draw your own conclusions.
