Okay, so I'm totally hooked on Rock Star again this season. As I said in that post, one of the most fascinating things is that the "rockers" get to pick their own songs when they get relegated to the bottom three and have to really impress the band. My buddy Matt Hoffer tried to go out of the box with Duran Duran and it backfired. Patrice stood out with "My Iron Lung" and absolutely killed it (in a good way).
So, my question to you, dear reader, is what song would you pick if you were in that situation? Doesn't matter if you're not actually a singer. What song would you use to show Gilby, Tommy and Jason what you're all about? I'd say pick your number one and maybe a couple runners up.
My choice? "Peace, Love and Understanding" from Elvis Costello. Great intensity, good show of vocal range, and just a great tune. I was also thinking maybe "Kiss of Life" with Peter Gabriel, in which I would add some additional drums -- admit it, you've visualized yourself onstage for this -- or "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor" from Arctic Monkeys, because it would bring all sorts of energy and quite a bit of attitude.
I know, you're surprised I didn't go with "Mexican Radio," but I am thinking about what would impress this particular bunch of guys.
Click on that comments link and let me know what you would pick!
The Replacement's "Alex Chilton", just because.
