I'm beginning to think that Jim DeRogatis has a keyboard macro set up to impugn any reunion tour -- this week's pair of Van Halen shows being the latest example -- as being the result of "purely monetary motivation of some fifty-something rockers." Clearly, Jim has a bug up his butt about the corrupting influence of money in the music business, from these endless accusations that musicians who would like to continue to play music in front of audiences should go work behind a fast-food counter instead of revisit their pasts to the tirades about VIP areas at music festivals.
I think he's just upset that no one asks to sleep on his floor while they're in town anymore, as he likes to brag Yo La Tengo used to do back in the day.
