The Bottom Lounge is coming back, and in keeping with tradition, the new location is right next to the El tracks, only on the Green Line this time.
In the grand scheme of things, I think we're starting to recover from some losses in the rock scene over the last several years. Empty Bottle has picked up a big chunk of the slack from the loss of Lounge Ax, you've now got Reggie's Rock Club on the near south side, a handful of spaces in Logan Square (Ronny's, Logan Square Auditorium) and now a second iteration of Bottom Lounge. I'd still like to see more clubs along North Lincoln Avenue, as the stretch from Elbo Room to the Old Town School of Folk Music has always held a certain potential to be the Chicago equivalent of Sixth Street in Austin.
Also, I'm curious as to the synergy of the new Bottom Lounge with all the rehearsal buildings over in that part of town, mine included.
