This Week In New Business Models

Coolfer asks if, on the heels of Nine Inch Nails' success with Ghosts I-IV, maybe a $5 price point is workable for digital albums. He's not convinced, but skimming through the $5 specials on Amazon.com gives me a really itchy trigger finger. Not that I'm a trend in and of myself, but it's still a data point.

And Flight of the Conchords are going to release songs immediately after their episodes air for the new season, but then at the end of the season, there will be a full album that will also have additional tracks. While the Sub Pop pre-order option might cover this, I'm interested to see how many people will buy all the "singles" and then buy the record again.
