The New 800-pound Gorilla

It feels like old news already, but it was only Tuesday when the news of the Ticketmaster - Live Nation merger came down. Coolfer has the most comprehensive roundup that isn't overly laden with axes to grind, although Bill also points to a Billboard analysis that isn't all that rosy. I'm obviously hoping he's right when he says "This may not impact the average ticket price."

It's an odd coincidence that both companies recently had ticketing meltdowns, with Phish and Bruce Springsteen. Shouldn't competition make them try to be better at this?
