On "Vintage" Bands

Okay, I find it really interesting that Joe Elliot from Def Leppard considers his band, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and U2 to be the same sort of "vintage" band that releases new material just to avoid being a Vegas act. Of course, you could also argue that U2 is a Vegas act, writ large, but that's a whole different angle. The point is, I think Bono would probably disagree.

I also like the bit about how "spontaneity is something that went out when the hippies died." That's pretty much arena rock in a nutshell right there. Or summer ampitheatre rock.
