I've been known to make fun of bad music writing, so it's only fair that I flag the good stuff, too. This is not the Allison Stewart who used to be on MTV, and actually, I've been a fan of her writing for quite some time. I think she may have contributed to the Tribune a long time ago, but I could be completely misremembering that. Anyway, this is a particular bit of awesome from a review of new albums from Norah Jones and John Mayer:
Jones, at least, seems as endearingly snoozy off-record as on. But for Mayer, whose whip-smart interviews and richly documented dating life suggest that an actual interesting person resides underneath all that hair, teeth and fondness for metaphors, such musical innocuousness is unforgivable. Merely by existing, "Battle Studies" violates Internet Rule 17: Never let your Twitter account be more interesting than you are.
Good stuff.
