I think I've tried this once before, but I'm going to play around with keeping all the editorial at the top, and then just have the listings of those shows that caught my eye for one reason or another without individual commentary.

Pick of the week
If you saw 20 Feet From Stardom, then you know who Lisa Fischer is, and you should totally go see her at Thalia Hall on Saturday. Although the Reader seems to think she's doing two shows on Friday. This week is CIMMFest and its musical showcases, including a good-looking bill at Double Door on Friday that includes Bailiff at the top of the dance card.

Longtime Chicago music fans will also notice the return of Fig Dish on that Sunday night bill at Metro, opening for Local H.

And SPACE seems to be the place this week, with a bunch of notable shows culminating in the return of Billy Cobham's 40th Anniversary Tour for his breakthrough jazz fusion album, Spectrum.

Open Jam at Vaughan's on Tuesday, and Diver at Fado on Saturday. Repeat as necessary.

Recap
Good times had by all at Cubby Bear on Friday night as we closed the live chapter of the Andrew Fraker & Sons story. It's always cool looking out into an audience and seeing people singing along with songs that they only know because you wrote/co-wrote/co-arranged them. Hopefully there will be opportunities to do that again sooner rather than later.
