This One's A Keeper

Okay, I've been hard-pressed to keep writing over here. It's too easy for me to let my thoughts and impressions trickle out onto Bigsoccer than to try to come up with something cogent for the website.

Anyway, Salt Lake announced John Ellinger as their first coach, and he responded to a question about veteran leadership in the back with an answer that made it sound like he'd enjoy having recent Fire returnee Zach Thornton in his net. One way or the other, I think a Fire 'keeper will end up in the mix for the , since my recollection is that current backup DJ Countess played for Ellinger in the youth system.

This may allow the Fire to game the expansion draft, if they assume former Fire Assistant GM Steve Pastorino wants a goalie. I'm just not exactly sure how at the moment.
