I can't believe I waited this long to go through the week's soccer press, which included this little gem from Colorado goalkeeper Joe Cannon, after referee Jair Marrufo called three penalty kicks in the last five minutes of Saturday's Galaxy-Rapids match:
"It's pretty obvious," Cannon said. "I'm speechless right now. I'm (infuriated) and I'm embarrassed and I'm frustrated because we have a group of (expletive) guys who work so (expletive) hard and so (expletive) good for this game and our (expletive) city and we get this (expletive) handed to us."It's going to be a turning point in our (expletive) season, hopefully. If not, we're not men."
I think he's upset, but I'm not sure. I'm assuming that this wasn't caught on tape, seeing as how there's usually not much more than print media interviewing players after MLS games. Otherwise, I would hope it would reach ESPN ubiquity the way "Gianluca Pagliuca" or "I can't believe I shook his (expletive) hand" did.
Once we get our profanity-laden tirades on Sportscenter, then MLS will have truly arrived.
