The Defintion Of Irony

At least I think it's actually ironic. Coach gets fired. Team does well enough under interim coach -- along with some other, fortuitous results -- to contend for the final playoff spot in their final match. Recently deposed coach's son scores the game-winner to reach the post-season.

It looks like MLSNET takes a day to get the quote sheets up, but I want to hear what Michael Bradley had to say after the game real bad.

Ives found it. At least I'm assuming he's the one who compiled the sources. I'd expect a teenager to be much less composed and, well, boring:

"It wasn't bittersweet at all," Bradley said. "Speaking to him before the game, he was the first one to tell me to wish everyone luck. He's still a big part of this club and he's rooting for us more than anybody."

That said, it was a crazy game to watch. Three balls off the post for Metro, one for Chivas, along with three or four gift-wrapped opportunities for the goats in the first half that they couldn't convert. Compared to the last two Fire matches, it was fun watching a team who actually had something to play for.
