Great Moments In BigSoccer Wisdom, Part 2

Second in a series comes from a thread titled " Wolff to Everton for £500,000?" In it, galperin opines:

If Josh signs in EPL, he will have just given up any hope of making WC '06. He'll almost never see the pitch at Everton, or any other EPL club.

This is the entrenchment of BS conventional wisdom turned into pure comedy. As most of you know, the World Cup starts in June of next year. Josh Wolff currently plays for Kansas City in Major League Soccer. The MLS season just finished over the weekend. Next season doesn't get underway until April.

So, by galperin's reasoning, training with an EPL squad and not playing in meaningful games spells certain doom for Wolff, when the alternative is...training with the Wizards and playing three or four MLS games? Is he really contending that the MLS preseason is better for player development than even a reserve role with an EPL club?

The mind boggles. So does Metrogo's, apparently.
