Freddy actually thinks he has a shot at making the team. Because being in the bottom third of a training camp of guys vying for about five spots on the team screams out opportunity.
I'm not saying it doesn't -- and there may be an opportunity at right wing -- but Adu is nominally a central, attacking midfielder, and you have to figure Landon Donovan and Claudio Reyna are the top two at that position. After that, Clint Dempsey and Kyle Martino have the edge over Freddy going into this particular camp, but you also have to figure that Damarcus Beasley and even Bobby Convey have a better shot of filling in the depth chart. Adu has to be dangerous and able to defend both in the middle and on the right to have a shot at all, and I don't think he's up to the task on either front.
