WC2006: World Cup Qualifiers

NEW YORK CITY (4:52pm local time) -- I caught the end of the Argentina-Ivory Coast match at an Irish bar near Penn Station while I make my way from Newark to JFK and my flight to Frankfurt. The ticker said that this morning's 1-0 England win was the first 1-0 World Cup victory decided by an own goal. That's kinda splitting hairs, isn't it?

When they went back to the studio after the match, I was reminded of my first impression of the set, which was "wow, they put Eric Wynalda and Julie Foudy really far away from each other. I wonder if that was deliberate?"

The travel has been largely uneventful so far, but only Midway to Newark. All I've got to show for it so far is a half-finished sudoku and a finished Jumble and crossword. Apparently I'm better with the words than the numbers today.
