WC2006: What Time Is It?

AUTOBAHN (9:14pm local time) -- Deplaned yesterday in Frankfurt and met my host for the first two nights of the tournament for the first time. He had posted to BigSoccer that a friend had an apartment available for the duration, but since I only needed a couple of nights, he graciously offered his couch. A former Milwaukee-area soccer coach, it turned out one of his former players was also coming over and staying at his house, and was actually on my flight.

Which is an awful lot of setup for a mostly quiet day, mostly spent watching matches and trying to convince my body that it wasn't what time it thought it was. And failing. We got in an hour's nap between Mexico-Iran and Angola-Portugal, but I still drifted off in the latter and was then unable to get to sleep when I actually tried. I don't remember if I heard the text message at 3am giving me the result of the Fire match.
