LEON CAFE, BERLIN (9:50pm local time) -- In the last 36 hours, I think I've had all the four major German food groups - wurst, spatzle, schnitzel and bier. I've even tried this bizarre combination of weiss beer and cola, which I would not recommend.
I have to admit, weineschnitzel sound much more exotic before you find out it's just a breaded pork cutlet.
I'm also drinking more pilsner than when I'm home - I tend toward lagers and ales - and I think I can tell I've beaten the jet lag because it's finally going to my head, instead of being diverted to some secondary system called into service in order to adjust my internal clock.
I would also like to point ou tthat 0,4 l of "table water" at this particular establishment costs 2,90 €, whereas the same amount of draft beer is only 2,80 €. So if I sound a little drunk, that's why.
