MAINZ (7:00pm local time) -- The title of this post is something I say when I'm playing soccer and I start throwing my weight around, particularly when I cut off someone's path to the ball, and they run into me and subsequently fall down.
From where I was sitting, this is what the penalty against Gooch looked like. Not a foul, just physics. Just when we get the momentum back in our favor going towards halftime, things go horribly, horribly wrong in the closing minutes.
There's not much else to say about the game other than it was a huge disappointment. Someone asked what I thought would happen prior to the match, and I replied that what I thought didn't matter, we simply had to win.
But we weren't able to rise to the occasion, and Ghana did, so now we go home. Oh, and Landon Donovan is a little punk who holds the ball too long, Damarcus Beasley seems to have lost that top gear he used to have, and I'm also puzzled by some of Bruce's subs, but I get the Convey-for-Lewis move, even if I would have much rather seen aforementioned punk Donovan removed forcibly from the match.
Finally, why can't U.S. supporters sustain a song or a cheer for more than thirty seconds? That´s a rant that will be coming down the pike a little later.
