WC2006: The Persistence Of Restaurants

ON A TRAIN TO FRANKFURT (11:32am local time) -- There are a considerable number of Italian flags on the walk between the hotel and the train station. More than you might expect away from the main population center of Frankfurt.

This triggers another memory from back in my consulting days. On one business trip that took us in and out of Frankfurt, an Austrian colleague took us to a wonderful Italian restaurant near the airport. Packrat that I am, I probably still have the business card somewhere at home, and I'm willing to bet that the address on it says Moerfelden-Walldorf.

This recontextualizes the hotel for me a bit, along with the surprising painlessness of the walk home last night and the realization that, okay, it is actually pretty close to the airport. Although 2 Euro for 20 minutes of Internet access is highway robbery.
