I'm watching the USA vs. Trinidad & Tobago match on a slight delay right now, and as a result, I skipped over the introduction of the broadcast team. I have to assume that the play-by-play guy is the regular DC United guy, because I can't imagine anyone else would consider Justin Mapp to have "developed" at DC in the 19 minutes or so of first-team action he saw in his first season.
Being a broadcasting homer even when your team isn't playing? That's impressive. I'm not sure if it's an improvement over Max Bretos and Christopher Sullivan the other night getting their facts about claims of Bradley family nepotism and Carlos Bocanegra's "natural" position exactly backwards.
Then again, today's color analyst did the same thing once, saying that there was "another" late flag for offside after describing the previous flag as very quick.
Speaking of those flags, I don't know that I've seen a single referee's assistant blow that many offside calls in such a short period of time. Wow. Protesting the U.S. policy towards Cuba, perhaps?
