I've been, um, sharing some opinions about the Fire front office lately, but leave it to the Chicago Sports Review to actually do something about it. Writer Ben Strauss pens, "now Blanco is in Chicago, where Chicago Fire President John Dorn is hoping a thriving Mexican community will welcome him (and pay to watch him)."
If you don't like who is running the team, just pretend it's someone else! Brilliant! I wish I had thought of that!
Wow. Not to mention: "and assisting on the Fire's lone tally in Saturday's draw at Toronto." Huh?
Full disclosure: I used to write on the Fire for the Chicago Sports Review, before their editor left to found the Chicago Sports Weekly (who I now write for).
And: "Toyota Park, remember, is the same place the Star Spangled Banner was booed before the U.S. and Mexico played in the Copa America Final earlier this summer."
Blimey.
A-ha! John Dorn is the President of Chicago Fire *Premier*.
"Ben Strauss was born and raised in Chicago and is currently a senior at Ithaca College. He vomits everytime a Yankee fan turns on the YES Network, and can be reached at bstraus1@ithaca.edu."
Senior in college, a long ways away.
That explains a lot.
Note this paragraph has been changed:
"Now Blanco is in Chicago, where Fire President John Guppy is hoping a thriving Mexican community will welcome him (and pay to watch him). This is the same city, remember, where the Star Spangled Banner was booed before the U.S. and Mexico played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final earlier this summer."
But this one has not been:
"So far he has been up to the task, scoring in his debut against Celtic F.C. and assisting on the Fire's lone tally in Saturday's draw at Toronto."
Stay in school, kids.
