For all the frustrations with the Fire front office that I take out on John Guppy in this space, I was glad to see this quote in Luis' article on the team's resurgence:
"C.J. [Brown] is playing the best he has played in five years," Fire general manager John Guppy said about the 32-year old defender. "I think we finally look like a team now. Everyone is contributing."
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I think Wilman Conde and Gonzalo Segares get too much of the credit for the stingy defense -- I would point out that they both got burned on the Christian Gomez goal in DC last week -- while Brown and Dasan Robinson get short shrift, so it's good to see the boss recognizes it as well.
And did Luis get it wrong, or did Guppy assume the GM role? I thought he was President and CEO, but explicitly did not hold the title of General Manager.
