I haven't read too many of the post-mortems on English football, but I have learned that Jack Bell thinks it's been inexplicably revered and overrated in this country for too long. I may actually agree with him, but not to such a vitriolic degree. And you wonder if you'll get some kind of matter/anti-matter explosion when the soccer fans who wrote in to Major League Soccer magazine, gleefully skewered on Kenn.com, read Bell's piece.
Bell really went over the top on that one, even if there's a kernel of truth to it (isn't that the point Paul Gardner always makes though? Hardly original.)
Similarly, I don't really see the point in "skewering" letters by readers of a magazine. Sure, they weren't very bright suggestions, but there are better (and less easy) targets to pick on.
I'm all for attacking professional idiocy, but amateur opinions are what they say on the tin.
