His Left Foot

Two things came to mind watching Fulham v. Blackburn today. First, Eddie Johnson is a lot better when he gets the ball on the right side of the goal. A lot of his early problems were on the left, and I'm guessing he's just not as confident with his left foot. So he did things like fall down a lot, which led to not getting any love from the referee as the game wore on.

Second, announcers suck everywhere. The second guy in the booth didn't think Morton Gamst Pederson committed a foul to get so wide open on Blackburn's goal. While the tug of Stalteri's shoulder might have been innocuous on it's own, he pulled him back over his outstretched leg. Clearly a foul. And I'm not sure how you can call the high kick against Johnson a bad call. He pretty much got kicked in the face. If there's a difference in whether it's direct or indirect based on whether or not the defender made contact -- and I don't know if that rule has changed since I was a ref twenty years ago -- then maybe you've got a case, but even so, it evens out with the bad call on the other end, that the color guy didn't get right, either.
