Freeze Frame

Over at Section 8 Chicago's new "Backdraft" blog, our buddy Tom posts the screen shot of the Larentowicz red card from Thursday night, along with some asinine bleating from the Revs fan Ives got to write for his blog.

As I said in the comments on that post, and alluded to when I posted here about the match itself, there are only two reasons Larentowicz could miss a tackle by six inches with his studs up. Either he was going for Prideaux's leg, or he was just going in totally recklessly, and both of those options deserve red, whether it's the first minute or the 90th. Jeff Parke, by comparison, only saw yellow (albeit his second) because you could make a much better case for him making a legitimate play on the ball.

Still, anything that makes Steve Nicol think it's not his team's fault that they don't get a result will only make their eventual and inevitable destruction that much sweeter.
