If you're going to hire a broadcaster based on his being a somewhat prominent figure in the local sports media landscape, you may want to make sure he's going to stay that way. Of course, if Mike North does switch to midday, Huebner's still around, but if not, does the Fire gig become his only one in town? And if North gets dumped, would he consider moving to a new market, and taking Huebner with him? Or are they Chicago guys to the point where it's here or nothing? I don't really follow the comings and goings of sports radio, so I haven't the faintest idea.
There's a scenario here where I get back into the mix, so I may have to reintroduce myself to the front office.
North is really awful--I never listen anymore.
On Heubner, I wouldn't mind seeing him off of the Fire broadcasts--mostly because he pronounces "fire" like "foyer," which is really grating when he says it several dozen times during a 90 minute match.
