I only have two predictions for next week's MLS Draft. First, the Fire will trade for a first-round pick. Second, Ives will get more than half of his wild-ass guesses wrong. I might go so far as to say he'll get 10 picks out of 30 (across the first two rounds), tops.
Which is nothing against Ives, but the MLS Draft has too many seemingly unpredictable variables, and I don't think I've ever seen anyone get it right.
As for the first prediction, I hedge it a little bit because I don't know -- as I said last time -- what the immediate future holds for Bakary Soumare and Gonzalo Segares. If they're likely to be out of Chicago soon, then we definitely trade for a pick. If not, we may sit back and grab a project midfielder or goalkeeper.
