As mentioned earlier, Brian Lewis has started to steal the closing schtick of every Soccer By Ives post. Now that SBI has their Landon Donovan story up, we can see what the New York Post writer has done to make it "his own."
Lewis:
What do you think of Donovan putting in some good work in his debut? Think he'll impress at Bayern and score a longer stay? Strike out for a third time in the Bundesliga? Check in with us...
SBI:
What did you think of Donovan's performance? Proud that Donovan had a good showing? Think Klinsmann had him playing the correct role? Or should he try to fit Donovan elsewhere during these friendlies? Think he just might stick around Bayern Munich longer than just two months?Share your thoughts below.
There's a complicating factor here, and that's that Ives himself did not write this post. Some newbie who, I'm guessing by the URL, gave the article a placeholder name and never updated it so the URL wouldn't look totally dorky, is now in the mix. And I think GianFranco Panizo -- good lord, that's gotta be another Jersey boy, right? -- is trying to impress his new boss by going overboard with the questions. Still, he goes for the more traditional "share your thoughts below," while Lewis mixes it up and tags his post with "check in with us." And Lewis goes all "fair and balanced" on us, raising the spectre of past German failures for Landycakes, whereas Signor Panizo takes more of a fanboy approach, already blaming the coach.
Lewis actually comes out looking better here, but Ives' new guy may be overmatched. We'll need a good sample from Ives himself for a real comparison.
Um, what do you think? That I'm taking this trivial matter way too far? That I should go watch last season's Battlestar Galactica finale instead of boring you with this crap? Let me know in the comments!
What's wrong with being a "jersey boy?"
Also, I don't think he capitalizes the "F" in his name. I've never seen Gianfranco spelled like that.
Anyway, it's a funny thing that some bloggers tend to do. I do find it strange that people need to be encouraged to comment on blogs these days. It's kinda like web sites that say visit us at "www.insertnamehere.com." Do they have to say "www?"
I dunno. I have better things to worry about.
